When an organization that does so much for homeowners and potential homeowners came to us for exterior signs and graphics in Gillette, WY, we were happy to be of some assistance. This was actually our second go at a sign for Coldwell Banker. The first sign was a visual nightmare: it was just an unreadable big blue blob. Fortunately, we were able to work with corporate to fix the problem.
What We Did for Coldwell Banker
For the original project, Coldwell Banker’s corporate headquarters designed the sign for the Gillette location. It consisted of a full blue logo and a ton of lettering made from channel letters and installed directly to the beige exterior of the building. It looked great on paper, but the local office was understandably not happy with the results.
For the second take, corporate redesigned the sign to have the channel letters mounted to a contrasting panel. They also had us change the coloring of the faces of the letters. We did not have to scrap the channel letters all together to do this. In fact, we simply removed the existing blue vinyl from the lit sign faces exposing the white acrylic underneath. Coldwell Banker was completely satisfied with their updated marker.
This project stresses the importance of designs meeting expectations of what the finished product will realistically look like. We have plenty of experience updating old signs that were just a blob of color. They can look amazing on a computer monitor, but from 50 feet away, they look more like a bowl of Skittles. Luckily, we do design, production, and installation in-house so we can catch these mistakes before they hurt your business.
